1330 Road Cycling

Here at 1330 Road Cycling we support the increasing popularity in women’s cycling and aim to encourage its development through trips such as this. We’re excited to present this fantastic opportunity to spend time riding in stunning mountain surroundings with other women who love to ride bikes.

For women who ride

Women’s Week is for female riders looking to introduce themselves to, or improve their fitness riding in the mountains. The previous editions were a huge success and are most rewarding trips.

The trip is perfect for those new to riding in the mountains as we’ll be spending time working on various skills such as descending and cornering, as well as looking at choosing the correct clothing to carry, and which food to eat when riding in a mountain environment.

Women’s Week is been great fun, with everyone willing each other on and feeling stronger and more confident each day.

Here at 1330 Road Cycling we pride ourselves on providing cycling experiences in the fantastic environment which the mountains provide.

This trip is designed to inspire and empower women to ride, and experience for themselves the physical and mental challenge of these magnificent mountain climbs. The sense of achievement you feel as you can finally see the summit is at the heart of what we do.

You’ll enjoy a fully-catered week at Chalet Cairn, our wonderful Alpine chalet in Peisey-Nancroix, which is part of the Paradiski ski domain. This new 5-bedroom boutique chalet with hot tub, sauna and sun terrace facing the Vanoise National Park is the perfect place to relax after each day in the saddle.

In addition to the facilities at the chalet we also have an on-site massage service provided by our local partner company Massage Me (available at additional cost).

You can find more details of where you’ll be staying here.

All the rides are fully-supported and van-assisted which we design so you can get the most out of the area and tackle the big climbs we have close by including the Cormet de Roselend, Col du Petit Saint Bernard, Col de la Madeleine and the mighty Col de l’Iseran, as well as some of our hidden local gems.

We realise that for some it may the first cycling trip to the mountains, so we are always there to give advice and support on every aspect of Alpine cycling.

The weather can be changeable in the mountains, even in August, so we will recommend which clothing to wear each day and give you any nutritional advice so you get the most from each ride. If the weather does take a turn for the worst during a ride we’ll load up the van and trailer and drive you back to the chalet.

We will be covering lots of aspects of riding in the mountains during the trip including cornering, descending, and how to tackle the big Cols which can take well over an hour to climb, but most of all we will be having fun and taking in all of the breath-taking scenery we have on our doorstep such as Lac de Roselend shown below.

Saturday 25th August

After an early morning flight into Geneva we will collect you and transfer you back to the chalet. After settling in and assembling the bikes we will head out for a short ride to familiarise yourself with the area, maybe taking in one climb before heading back to the chalet for dinner, which is usually served at 7:30pm each evening.

We will create a full riding itinerary for this trip based on all of our local climbs which can be found here.

Sunday 26th – Friday 31st August

Our typical day begins with breakfast at 8am so we are ready for a 9am departure. Each ride is usually between 4-5 hours taking in the climbs of the area. We stop for lunch during the ride, and there will be a coffee stop at a suitable mountain top cafe so you can take in the views. You are not committed to riding the full route each day as the support van is with you at all times although we do encourage you to ride as much as you can.

We are usually back at the chalet around 5pm with time for a post-ride wind down before dinner. Our massage therapist will be at the chalet from 6pm for those who have pre-booked any treatments.
