A monument of the Tour de France, and a climb which seems to have the ability to humble you as a cyclist . . . every time. For those who like a challenge it’s one that you should definitely tick off.
The Madeleine is a beast from either side. It’s debatable which side is the easiest (or less hard), but the descents are spectacular and great reward for your efforts getting to the top.
Part of a very tough Stage 19 of the Tour de France in 2013 which was won by Rui Costa who went on to take the World Championship title later that year.
It will be appear in the Haute Route in 2016 as part of Stage 6 which finishes in Courchevel, and has been used several times in the Etape du Tour.
